Non-profit organization HIGHLIGHT:

These Numbers Have Faces seeks to move from fatalistic statistics to identifiable persons. In this way we hope to share the voices and faces of our friends in need.

Our first partnership is with the JL Zwane Football Club in Cape Town, South Africa. More than your average high-school soccer team, JL Zwane FC promotes education, HIV/AIDS awareness, leadership, and personal responsibility. Led by former professional player Coach Eric Kombela, JL Zwane FC is a mentorship-based youth outreach program committed to improving the community by providing hope and opportunity for young township players.

These Numbers Have Faces is dedicated to equipping these players with the tools they need to succeed on the field and off.  By fulfilling their basic soccer needs and providing the opportunities for higher education, we hope to bring about sustainable change to the township Gugulethu.

In addition to our work in South Africa, These Numbers Have Faces aims to create a framework of hope for those who struggle with the paralyzing "What now?" question to today's most difficult statistics. We hope to inspire and equip people to share the stories of those in need and forge ongoing partnerships rather than leaving them as summer mission opportunities, weekend service projects, or holiday handouts. In the same ethos of connectedness and relationship, we hope to branch out to different areas across the globe, meeting different people, with different stories in the constant effort of turning numbers into faces.
